Fed up sailing alone? Unsure about where to go? Would like to sail in company with others or new to sailing and want some company for longer journeys? Then why don’t you come and join us?The Narrow Seas Club was established in 1932 and for nearly a century has provided friendly support and company through regular local cruises and social events. We are mainly based in Burnham Yacht Harbour with 10 member yachts in the marina, and other member yachts in local marinas such as Fambridge.
We sail the Essex and Suffolk rivers as well as organising longer rallies round the Thames coastal area and the near continent. If you want company, there is generally someone from the club sailing somewhere most weekends of the season. We organise an annual rally to Calais and we are planning our next Holland rally for next spring. There is a wide range of skills and experience in the club so the other members are a great source of friendly help and advice.
Club meetings occur at 19.30 on the second Friday of the month, Feb to May, then Aug & Oct. The AGM is the second Saturday in November.
Feb, Mar and Apr meetings have speakers and take place in the library at the Royal Burnham (RBYC). May, Aug and Oct meetings are social events and take place in the bar at RBYC, except Aug (library).
The club has 3 dinner events through the year and these occur at 19.00 on the first Saturday of the Month. The Fitting Out Supper and the Laying Up Supper take place in the main dining room at the RBYC and the Christmas Party takes place in the Library.
As we don’t have our own club house membership cost is low:
Joining is simple, just come to one of our meetings at the Royal Burnham Yacht Club (see Forthcoming Events on our Home page) or send us your application direct from this link.
